Townhouse listing description examples
Townhouse buyers want the space of a house without all of the upkeep. The description should make the levels, the shared walls and the HOA crystal clear.
Examples
End-unit townhouse
This end-unit, 3-bed, 2.5-bath townhouse gets extra windows on three sides. The main level is open from the kitchen to the living room, which steps out to a private deck. Upstairs, the primary suite has vaulted ceilings and a walk-in closet, with two more bedrooms and a full bath down the hall. Laundry is on the bedroom level. One-car garage plus a driveway space. HOA covers exterior maintenance, the roof and the community pool.
Urban townhouse with rooftop
Four levels, 2 beds, 3.5 baths and a 400 sq ft rooftop terrace with a gas line for grilling. The ground floor holds a flex room and a two-car tandem garage. The kitchen has a 10-foot island and opens to a balcony. Each bedroom has its own bath. Built in 2019 with an EV charger in the garage and low HOA dues that cover snow removal and landscaping.
Examples describe fictional properties.
What to include
- Say how many levels and what's on each one. Stairs are a dealbreaker for some buyers and a feature for others.
- Mention if it's an end unit: more light and one less shared wall.
- Spell out what the HOA covers, especially roof and exterior.
- Outdoor space is scarce in townhouses: give its size.
Phrases to rethink
Describe the property, not who should live there.
Instead of: “Perfect starter home for a couple”
Try: “Low-maintenance living with the HOA handling the exterior”
Instead of: “Not suitable for the elderly”
Try: “Four levels connected by stairs”
